Egypt ACID Number Certificate
If you are shipping goods to Egypt, you need an Advance Cargo Information Declaration (ACID) number. This number is necessary for all imports. It is also known as an ECTN (Electronic Cargo Tracking Note). All you have to do is send us your documents as PDFs and we will manage your ACID application for you. The process is usually completed within a few days, as long as the documents are correct and consistent. Please note that each ACID number can only be used for one Bill of Lading. The draft and certificate are not issued directly by the Egyptian authority; the application process ends with the documents being uploaded on platforms such as Nafeza and via approved blockchain services for ACID number Egypt validation.
What is ACID Number Egypt?
Failure to submit the advanced cargo information declaration document (ACID) will result in serious penalties and hefty fines. Egypt’s Government requires the Advance Cargo information declaration (ACID) to ensure the security and orderliness of the country’s port. The ACID became compulsory for all exporters on April 1, 2021. In order to obtain approval, all exporters must submit the ACID.
What is the Procedure?
- Using an e-token (a digital identity provided by the importer), the importer enters his shipment data and information and then asks for the ACID number.
- The risk management system (RMS) ensures that all data is kept secure to avoid any potential vulnerabilities.
- The shipment ACID is delivered to the importer via the nafeza portal. The shipment ACID is then automatically sent to exporters, importers and banks.
- The ACID is valid for a period of 3 months from the date of issue.
- The shipment information and documents should be sent to the importer via email. Nafeza will then receive the documents from the importer.
- All shipment information and documents sent by the importer are verified and approved by the importer.
- After unloading, the cargo is inspected and checked. Finally, the shipment is shipped out of the customs port as the last piece of cargo.
Regulations and Compliance for Egypt ACID
- An ACID certificate is required under Egypt Customs regulations for all commercial sea freight delivered to the country.
- If you are an exporter shipping goods to Egypt, you need to make sure that your account is verified before submitting your Egyptian ACI application.
- Personal cargo shipped to Egypt must be shipped through a freight forwarder (transport company) in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth by NafEZA/Egypt customs. A private individual cannot register to submit an ACI filing
- At least one ACID must be included in each Bill of Lading, and the unique number must be entered in the original Bill of Lading as well as the Cargo Manifest.
- You must send the Egypt ACID certificate to Egypt Customs no later than five days prior to the vessel’s arrival.
- If the cargo arrives without an ACID, it will be subject to a fine that is twice the cost of the ACID. The shipment will then be held up until the recipient has completed the required documentation and paid the penalty levy, as well as demurrage fees.
